Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are fundamentally changing the way enterprises and hypergrowth companies operate. Companies are harnessing the power of big data sets and using data to innovate and provide a better product or service.
The demand for AI and machine learning technology is exploding with the global AI market growing at a compound annual growth rate of 42.2% and expected to reach $733.7 billion USD by 2027. The popularity of AI/ML-driven capabilities and devices like Netflix recommendations, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant have acquainted consumers with ways that AI/ML technology can improve the quality of their interactions with services and devices. It follows that the consumer’s newfound reliance on AI would spill into the world of work.
Named as a leader in collaborative work management software by Forrester Wave, Wrike has been the first to market many innovations, including personalized search capabilities, verticalized offerings, and advanced analytics that connect work to business results. Today, we continue our product leadership by launching Work Intelligence™ that leverages machine learning and AI.

Pain points and solutions
Pain points
As organizations scale, projects and workloads increase as well. With the surge in data points and work complexities, there’s no time to dig through and analyze data for decision-making insights. As a result, collaboration is tougher and boundaries between work and personal time become blurred.
The Work Intelligence™ solution
Wrike brings intelligence as a foundation that actively helps you focus, execute, and deliver on the work that matters most by processing behavioral data across the organization to glean complex insights from massive data sets to simplify decision-making.
Project Risk Prediction
As workloads increase, it becomes challenging for project owners and managers to manually track and analyze the progress of high-level initiatives and granular tasks. Assessing risk becomes equally challenging and determining risk levels based on intuition and experience is less effective and nearly impossible at scale.
Risk prediction and recommendations help project owners and managers move work forward by answering key questions:
- What is at risk?
- Why did it occur?
- How can we overcome the challenges?
Project owners and managers need an efficient way to identify at-risk initiatives at a glance and prioritize them without manually checking in with team members and digging through multiple project levels. Once a potential risk is identified, they need insight to accurately diagnose the cause and determine next steps, whether it’s notifying stakeholders, alleviating bottlenecks, adjusting resources, or updating timelines:
Project Risk Prediction uses machine learning technology to predict potential project delays and alert project and team leaders early by providing them with the possible causes for the delay. This allows them to take action fast to reduce or avoid delays. The technology uses signals like start and end dates, tasks extending beyond project deadlines, and prior outcomes from similar projects to assess medium and high risks and sends email digests to alert users. The predictions can be used as inputs to the Automation Engine to trigger actions to automate the activation of different scenarios based on project risk.
Pain points and solutions
Pain points
Eyeballing, forecasting, and analyzing risk manually requires timely data collection and analysis. It’s too laborious, almost impossible to achieve at scale, and easy to miss deadlines if risk-mitigation efforts are delayed.
Wrike Project Risk Prediction solution
Project Risk Prediction identifies at-risk projects, then makes recommendations for timely remediation.
Smart Replies
Gmail and LinkedIn messages already do it, your phone’s messaging app likely does it, too, and now so does Wrike. With Smart Replies in your Wrike mobile app Inbox, users can take quick actions to move work forward by responding to notifications and activity with ML-generated automated replies based on the context of the conversation thread. You can choose between three quick, contextually-generated responses for each @mention received in your Wrike Inbox. Currently, Smart Replies is supported in English for Android:

Pain points
Most work-related communications and responses are short and require simple decisions, but it takes too much time and effort to manually respond. Plus, there’s pressure to respond quickly while juggling more responsibilities.
Wrike Smart Replies solution
Smart Replies enables you to communicate faster with three contextually-generated, automated response suggestions.
Document Processing
How many times have you received a printed document or handwritten note from a colleague you’d love to include in Wrike for the rest of your team to see? Even if you could digitize the file and upload it, the editing process would be painful.
Using Wrike’s new Document Processing functionality, optical character recognition (OCR) technology digitizes and converts printed documents and handwritten notes into editable text files. All that’s necessary is to use your mobile device camera as a scanner, save the file as a task attachment, and upload to Wrike. Three simple steps and voila! Document Processing is available for iOS:

Pain points
Physical document sharing, editing, and collaboration is unrealistic across distributed organizations and teams. Team members do not have access to traditional office technology to digitize print assets.
The Wrike Document Processing solution
Document Processing optimizes collaboration by digitizing physical documents into editable text files with your mobile device.
